Happy Birthday "SI LA VIE DEMANDE ÇA"!
It is in March 2013 that the single SI LA VIE DEMANDE ÇA is 20 years old. An important moment that Laura Mayne will surely celebrate on stage with her audience and NATIVE fans during her concerts scheduled this month and throughout the year 2013. Check the CONCERTS section for more details...
March 1993. BMG ARIOLA had previously sent a weekly teaser to the medias during three weeks. From one week to the next, the media received a blurred picture of Native to announce the imminent arrival of a new artist. The cd single "Si La Vie Demande Ça" (If Life Asks For That) performed by NATIVE was sent to radios, press and TV stations at the end of March 1993. Lyrics written by Christine Lidon and music composed by Laura Mayne.
A major moment for Laura for it is the beginning of her artistic and music industry career. It was the first attempt in that musical genre in France, the medias were rather surprised and shy for a short while. But the song quickly convinced radio programmers, which launched Laura Mayne and her group on the media and commercial board.
Posted on her Facebook account on March 10, 2013, Laura Mayne says :
"I am often asked the following question : " When did you first heard your song on the radio". I invariably answer (and that will remain til the end of my life a very emotional moment for me) :
It was early April 1993. I was in the showers at my gym club in Paris 15th district of Paris. The radio was broadcasted throughout the entire centre including the showers. My song started playing and I instantly froze. At the end, I heard the voice of Nicolas Du Roy. He said : "You're listening to EUROPE 2 (Virgin Radio), this was "Si La Vie Demande Ça" by a new group called NATIVE We just to received it, we love it and we wish them good luck" I was alone in the showers, hot water dripping from my head to my feet. I said aloud "Thank you sir," I knelt down and cried... I knew right then that my life was going to change. This was the case. "
"Si La Vie Demande Ça" (If Life Asks For That) is a song Laura Mayne wrote after an emotional breakdown. The only way she says to carry on in her life and give sense to what made her suffer. Then learn from it and grow.
